The Archivists of Religious Collections Section (ARCS) is a group of professional archivists who work for national, international, and local Church organizations, religious societies and orders, and theological schools. ARCS members document the many sides of the faith experience. ARCS members represent large and small repositories and a cross-section of the diverse North American community of practice. Members have roles as directors, digital archivists, special collections curators, and records managers. Membership in ARCS is open to any member of the Society of American Archivists who preserves and makes accessible the documents of churches, synagogues, and other religious institutions and agencies. The Section meets annually at the time and place of the Society of American Archivists annual meeting and publishes an occasional newsletter, The Archival Spirit.
The ARCS Microsite makes available models and resources, information about upcoming events, publications and news releases, a membership directory, and governance documents. Electronic records of ARCS that are no longer in active use but have enduring value are transferred to and preserved by the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Archives.
